The pancreas is in the upper abdomen between the stomach and the spine. It produces digestive enzymes that are released into the duodenum to digest food. It also produces other hormones, such as insulin, which are released into the blood and influence the human body's metabolism in many ways. Common pancreas diseases are acute or chronic inflammation (pancreatitis) or tumour disease.
With a pancreatic MRI, you can detect these inflammatory or tumorous diseases.

As a rule, an intravenous contrast medium is helpful for a complete examination of the pancreas. However, whether this is necessary in individual cases will be determined by our radiologists together with you before the scan. For optimal image quality, it is advantageous to not ingest food for about eight hours before the examination. Small amounts of water and medication you may take are not a problem.
The examination is performed in the supine position and takes about 30-40 minutes.

The MRI examinations of the pancreas at ARISTRA are continuously developed in cooperation with internationally recognised experts in abdominal imaging. This means the images can be taken on-site using the most modern imaging technology and the latest scientific knowledge. Our abdominal specialists evaluate your scans.
